What Does Design Thinking Look Like?

Design thinking is a proven and action-oriented framework: a set of principles that informs how we frame and solve challenges.

It’s human-centric.

By putting people first, we build solutions that address real needs of multiple stakeholders — from customers, employees, suppliers and shareholders to people affected in the wider community.

It’s iterative.

Design thinking is not a linear process, as new feedback and insights gained during the process help guide alternative solutions and future improvements.

It’s multidisciplinary.

Design thinking is highly collaborative, involving not just designers but people from varied backgrounds in human factors, business and technology to co-create stakeholder-centric, commercially viable and technically feasible solutions.

It diverges and converges.

The design thinking framework opens up the possibility space during ideation to surface multiple points of view, before organizing insights and refining compelling ideas into solutions to move forward with.

Design thinking should become a problem-solving capability and a new way of thinking that promotes value adding and advocates interdisciplinary collaboration.
